Biden Out
President Joe Biden has announced he’s dropping out of the presidential race and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination. Biden’s resignation letter was reportedly written by Steve Ricchetti, the counselor to the president. Many people have expressed suspicion over the letter. [more]
VP Harris thanked President Biden for his time in office and announced that she intends “to earn and win this nomination.” She pointed out there’s 107 days until Election Day. [more]
Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, have endorsed Harris. [more]
Many Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, Sen. Josh Hawley, and vice presidential candidate JD Vance, had called on Biden to resign from office. [more]
Trump Assassination Attempt
The DHS announced that a bipartisan panel of experts will independently review the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. [more]
Domestic
The IRS has finalized a 10-year-rule for retirement withdrawals, confirming that heirs to retirement accounts have 10 years to withdraw the money. Experts say the IRS made retirement accounts even more complicated. [more]
Two people are dead and at least 28 are hospitalized due to a listeria outbreak linked to sliced deli meat in 12 U.S. states, the CDC announced. The deaths were in Illinois and New Jersey. [more]
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat, has died at the age of 74 after a battle with cancer. State law mandates that the executive committee of the Harris County Democratic Party has until Aug. 26 to choose a candidate to replace Rep Jack Lee’s seat for the Nov. 5 general election. If this doesn’t happen, the Texas Democratic Party would have two days (until Aug. 28) to choose someone. [more]

It’s been four days since a massive computer outage canceled over 5,000 flights and disrupted multiple businesses and systems - including hospitals, 911 systems, and various government agencies - worldwide. Microsoft said the fallout, which affected 8.5 million devices, stemmed from a software update from Crowdstrike, a U.S. cybersecurity firm. [more]

July 20 marked the 25th year since the Chinese Communist Party began its brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The U.S. federal government and lawmakers, as well as other leaders around the world, called on the CCP to end the persecution. [more]
Ursula von der Leyen has been reelected to the European Union’s top position - the president of its commission - for another five-year term. [more]
The reelection comes despite the European Court of Justice having ruled days earlier that Von der Leyen had violated European law by having withheld large parts from the public of COVID-19 vaccine contracts between the Commission and the vaccine manufacturers. [more]
