Jobs Report Correction: The U.S. government just adjusted its job numbers, cutting the previous estimate by 818,000. Originally, they said 2.9 million jobs were added between April 2023 and March 2024, but the new estimate, which is still preliminary, lowers that figure to 2.1 million—a whopping 28% reduction. Fluoride in Water and Children’s IQ: A U.S. government report says that fluoride in drinking water when at twice the recommended limit is linked to a lower IQ in children. [More]
The report points out: “It is important to note, however, that there were insufficient data to determine if the low fluoride level of 0.7 mg/L currently recommended for U.S. community water supplies has a negative effect on children’s IQ.”
One user on Watkins Report* commented that this suggests there’s not enough people available who have low fluoride exposure levels to measure this with confidence.

Supreme Court OKs Arizona’s Proof of Citizenship Law: The U.S. Supreme Court is allowing Arizona to enforce its proof-of-citizenship law for the upcoming November election. The law requires voters to provide proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote through a state voter registration form. [More]
There were other provisions that Republicans pushed for relating to voter ID that the Supreme Court did not approve. For example, Arizonans without identification could still register to vote as "federal only" voters, which would only require an attestation of U.S. citizenship. [More]
Harris’s Acceptance Speech: Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination on the final day of the DNC. In her speech, she tried to present a vision of the future of America with herself at the helm, even though she has yet to release a policy platform. RFK Jr. Withdraws from Arizona Ballot: Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy has filed his paperwork to officially be removed from the Arizona ballot.
