Is Nikki Haley an Agent of China?
A deep dive into the governor’s suspicious behavior towards China
Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and ex-governor of South Carolina (2011-2017), has undergone a significant shift in her stance towards China since her notable visit to China in 2007 for the World Economic Forum (WEF) event.
In 2011, Haley received recognition from the WEF, being named part of its Young Global Leader program.
The WEF has faced criticism for its globalist agenda. WEF initiatives, such as The Great Reset and "stakeholder capitalism,” undermine American sovereignty and erode individual freedoms.
Haley's affiliation with the WEF suggests her alignment with globalist ideals that do not align with the interests of the American people.
Haley attended the WEF in Dalian as part of a delegation led by then South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. The weeklong conference was viewed by China as an affirmation of its economic superpower status.
Haley described the invitation to attend the forum as a significant and prestigious opportunity.
Haley's trip to China cost U.S. taxpayers over $6,800.
Within the background of this visit, connections between Haley and China’s initiatives in America began to grow. Many began to wonder if her WEF-facilitated visit to China had deeper implications.
The shift in Haley’s stance toward China in her policies and objectives following her visit raises vital questions regarding her allegiances.
Has she been profiting from her political standing?
Did the WEF influence Haley during her visit?
Why did she become more accommodating to China's interests?
During her 2010 campaign, Haley defended her trip to China, saying she was “proud of the policy and economic development lessons and information gained" by the trip.
Investments from China
During her role as South Carolina’s governor, Haley actively sought and succeeded in attracting Chinese investment to South Carolina.
In 2015, Haley’s administration released a report touting Chinese investments in the state, providing a lengthy list of China-affiliated companies. At the time, the South Carolina Department of Commerce recorded capital investment from Chinese companies totaling almost $669 million.
Haley’s Stance on Chinese Investments
Haley has praised the work ethic of Chinese workers and believes that Chinese investments can serve as a reminder for Americans to regain their focus and energy.
In 2012, Haley said the Chinese “work with passion and they work with [the] urgency” that used to exist in the United States. “And that's why I think the Chinese investments are good for us. Because it reminds us of what this energy feels like. They can remind us that we [Americans] need to focus on that again,” she said. (Deutsche Welle World, May 7, 2012 )
Despite the Chinese Communist Party’s alarming track record on human rights and fair trade practices, Haley seemingly disregarded these concerns.
Her pro-China policies, including incentivizing Chinese companies to set up in South Carolina, indicates a shift in her political doctrine.
Incentives and Subsidies for Chinese Companies
Haley’s actions and policies brought her closer to serving China’s interests.
Did the Chinese convince Haley to commit to furthering Chinese interests in America?
Her administration secured deals with various companies, including China Jushi, Keer Group, and Volvo. These companies received substantial taxpayer-funded incentives provided by Haley's administration—including free land, tax credits, and grants, to set up operations in South Carolina.
In 2011, South Carolina offered Chinese-owned Bluestar Silicones incentives to expand in the state. Press accounts suggest Haley was instrumental in striking the deal, with her administration having offered the firm a variety of tax incentives and a location well-suited for the company’s growth plans. (Rock Hill Herald, June 18, 2021)
In 2013, South Carolina offered China-based Keer Group—a textile manufacturer—local and state incentives valued at more than $90 million to construct a facility in the state. South Carolina was willing to reduce Keer’s property taxes for 30 years, and exempt it from income tax for 15 years. The incentive package offered was 10 times larger than what North Carolina was offering. Keer Group eventually chose a location in Lancaster County, South Carolina. (Charlotte Observer, December 20, 2014)
In 2015, South Carolina agreed to provide more than $200 million in state and local incentives to land a Volvo factory. Volvo is a subsidiary of Chinese company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Haley praised the company’s decision to locate its Volvo factory in in Berkeley County, South Carolina, saying at a news conference that Volvo wanted to be made in America and "more importantly, we love that they're now going to be made in South Carolina.” (The State, May 10, 2015)
Also in 2015, South Carolina provided incentives for Techtronic Industries—headquartered in Hong Kong, China—to expand its operations by building a new 1.3 million-square-foot distribution, assembly, and reconditioning center in Anderson County. (South Carolina Department of Commerce, Press Release, May 7, 2015)
In 2016, a Chinese company, China Jushi, opened a fiberglass manufacturing plant in Richland County, South Carolina. The company is partially owned by the CCP. State and local governments in South Carolina offered Jushi an attractive package—250 acres of free land, tax credits and rebates, worker training assistance, road improvements, and several million dollars in cash grants. (Los Angeles Times, July 1, 2019)
The fact that some of these companies are partially or wholly owned by the Chinese government raises red flags about Haley's connections and allegiance.
The incentives she offered to these Chinese companies in South Carolina overshadowed the interests of American workers, hurting local businesses and the job market.
By promoting these investments, Haley helped China expand its influence and control over American industries.
Was Haley’s shift towards benefiting China a conscious decision as an agent of China, or simply a coincidence?
During her tenure as South Carolina’s governor, Haley proudly claimed to have created 40,000 new jobs in states.
However, investigations into these claims revealed that they were overestimated and misleading.
Many of the job announcements were for projects that hadn't yet materialized or had fallen through entirely.
This revelation called into question the effectiveness of Haley's economic policies and highlighted a potential disregard for the truth in order to boost her reputation.
Opposition to Tariffs on Chinese Tires
In 2014, Haley opposed the tariffs imposed on tires made by firms with ties to China. Her opposition to the tariffs suggests she prioritized the interests of Chinese companies, such as Giti Tire, over American tire manufacturers and workers.
In defending her stance, she portrayed Chinese investments as beneficial for the U.S. economy, but she did not acknowledge the potential negative impacts on domestic industries and job markets.
The controversy surrounding Haley extends beyond economic matters.
Did Nikki’s husband's defense contracting company's profitability go through the roof due to Haley's political connections?
The various connections, actions, and policies attributed to Nikki Haley suggest a troubling pattern of support for Chinese initiatives at the expense of American interests.
From her attendance at the WEF conference in China to her defense of Chinese companies and her acceptance of lavish perks, Haley's behavior raises significant questions about her motivations.
While some may argue that her actions were simply an attempt to attract foreign investments, the evidence points to a more insidious possibility: that NIKKI HALEY IS AN AGENT OF CHINA, infiltrating the US political system to further Chinese government interests.
